چکیده

Fingernail deformity is common, yet current methods used to define cosmetic appearance following trauma are mainly descriptive. In order quantify the of fingernail, we developed Oxford Appearance Score using a three stage iterative process. The score has five components marked as binary outcomes composed nail shape, adherence, eponychial appearance, surface and presence split. first stage, two assessors independently assessed 25 photographs fingernails taken at minimum four months paediatric bed repair compared them corresponding contralateral uninjured finger. Following refinement in score, ten different scored further 62 after repair. Assessors completed each components, overall component was calculated by statisticians post-hoc, taking ideal 1 (“identical opposite” for eponychium surface, “complete” “absent” split) all non-ideal appearances 0. effectively photographs’ integer values between 0 (least optimal appearance) 5 (most appearance). Refinements scoring system resulted an improvement weighted kappa statistic 0.36 (95% CI:0.09,0.68) initial 0.52 CI: 0.42, 0.61). user-friendly reliable which application clinical trial setting.

Finger Nail Plate: A New Biometric Identifier

The key objective of this paper is to investigate a new biometric identifier for forensic and civilian applications. We propose a novel biometric authentication system based on low resolution finger nail plate images. Despite the uniqueness and high stability of the nail plate, its usage as a biometric identifier has not been extensively investigated for personal authentication. This paper impl...

Photoplethysmograph fingernail sensors for measuring finger forces without haptic obstruction

A new type of touch sensor for detecting contact pressure at human fingertips is presented. Unlike traditional electronic gloves, in which sensor pads are placed between the fingers and the environment surface, this new sensor allows the fingers to directly contact the environment without obstructing the human’s natural haptic senses. The finger touch force is detected by measuring changes in t...

Kirner's deformity of the little finger.

In 1927 Kirner described a condition of the little finger characterised by palmar and radial curving of the terminal phalanx. A number of papers since then have recorded further cases. Stahei, Clawson and Capps ( 1966) gave a summary of twenty-four cases reported up to that time and added two of their own. Kaufmann and Taillard (1961) reported the biopsy findings in one case, and Carstam and Ei...
